Ember Tips

What Does Eggnog Taste Like?

Never had eggnog but you are curious why so many people love it? You are in for a real treat!

Many people liken the flavor of eggnog to melted ice cream in that it is creamy, sweet, and delicious. Homemade eggnog is made using milk or cream, raw eggs, sugar, spices like vanilla and nutmeg, and alcoholic spirits. That said, alcohol-free eggnog is quite common as well.

What is the Best Way to Crush Candy Canes?

If you’ve never chopped candy canes before, approaching the job incorrectly can be incredibly messy.

Fortunately, crushing candy canes is super easy. All you need is a Ziplock bag and a hammer, or a food processor.

For the former, place the candy canes into a Ziplock bag, place a towel underneath the bag, and smash the candy canes with a hammer until they are the size you desire. For the latter, simply break the candy canes into pieces, place them into the food processor, and run the machine in short bursts until the candy cane pieces are the right size.

Afterward, store any unused candy cane bits in an airtight container.

What Should I Serve with Peppermint Eggnog?

This peppermint white chocolate eggnog goes wonderfully with a variety of sweet snacks, including:

  • Gingerbread cookies: Sweet and spicy, gingerbread cookies are a delicious and festive treat that pair perfectly with holiday drink recipes like peppermint eggnog.
