How to Make Kumquat Fruit Tea

Ingredients

  • approx. 24 kumquats
  • 3-5 key limes
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¾ cup cane sugar
  • ½ cup water

Directions

Prepping your Kumquat Concentrate

  1. Wash the kumquats and key limes thoroughly, removing any dirt or stems.
  2. Cut your kumquats in half horizontally and remove the seeds.
  3. Thinly slice the key limes and remove any seeds.. Set kumquats and key limes aside.
  4. Over medium-low heat, add kumquats, key limes, cane sugar, and honey into a frying pan. Stir together continuously for roughly 10 minutes using a spatula until mixture thickens, ensuring the sugar doesn’t burn.
  5. Once the mixture has caramelized, add water then simmer and stir for about 10-20 minutes. Make sure the mixture isn’t too watery or thick.
  6. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes before transferring the kumquat concentrate to a jar. Once it has completely cooled, you are free to cover and store the jar in your refrigerator.

Preparing Kumquat Fruit Tea

  1. Add two spoonfuls of the kumquat concentrate into your Ember Mug 2.
  2. Pour boiling water to taste and stir.
  3. Enjoy!
